چکیده

fly apart are key issues. For small structures, great advances have been made in computer modeling. It would be desirable to extend the models to bulk samples. X-ray intensity fluctuation spectroscopy is already being pioneered at third generation light sources and its extension to x-ray FELs, in terms of the time-scales and length-scales, were discussed, together with the possibility of studying a broad range of materials. There were intense discussions trying to define the most important radiation characteristics. This will of course in many cases depend on the specific experiments, but in general terms the following order was established, in de-creasing order of importance:

Simulation of Ground Motion Induced Proton Beam Orbit Vibration in Hera

Ground motion induced beam jitter plays an important role for many kinds of accelerators, like future linear colliders, synchrotron radiation sources or storage rings. The resulting beam orbit vibration potentially leads to luminosity degradation in colliding beam facilities due to beam offset at the interaction point and/or emittance growth. The sensitivity of beam orbits to quadrupole motion ...

Ground Motion and Vibration Issues for Accelerators

Ground motion and vibration can be a limiting factor in the performance of future colliders, in particular linear colliders and large hadron colliders. Investigations of ground motion have been carried out around the world for several decades. In this review, after brief discussion of ground motion requirements for NLC, TESLA and VLHC, the results of recent investigations of ground motion are p...

Ground Motion Measurements for Fermilab Future Collider Projects

This article presents results of wide-band seismic measurements at the Fermilab site, namely, in the tunnel of the Tevatron and on the surface nearby, and in two deep tunnels in the Illinois dolomite, thought to be a possible geological environment of the Fermilab future accelerators.

New Opportunities in the Physics Landscape at CERN

The workshop "New Opportunities in the Physics Landscape at CERN" was held at CERN on 11-13 May 2009. The objective of the workshop was to explore new opportunities for physics at CERN using both existing accelerators and facilities and also accelerators foreseen for the upgrade of the LHC injection complex. The workshop was very well attended with a total of about 400 registered participants a...

Influences of temporal evolution of ground motion frequency content on developed dynamic ratcheting in SDOF systems

Dynamic Ratcheting (DR) is a nonlinear dynamic phenomenon occurring in hysteretic damping systems. It means the structural plastic deformation increases asymmetrically in successive cycles under an earthquake excitation. Although it is generally recognized that DR is closely related to the frequency contents of an earthquake excitation applied to thestructure, no targeted analysis has bee...
